Welcome, Bandi Caro, Gayle Ollington, and Jessica Gonzalez!

Bandi joins NumFOCUS as a Senior Accountant. In this role, she oversees the organization’s finance team and day-to-day financial operations while providing necessary foundational support to projects. Bandi’s previous professional experience includes working for several non-profits, small government organizations, and real estate companies.

“I’m excited to work with the team as a Senior Accountant providing financial guidance and support to NumFOCUS’s projects and events. And I can’t wait to try those famous Austin breakfast tacos,” said Bandi.

Gayle is one of two hires to NumFOCUS’s events team. Her work as the Jupyter Community Events Manager is focused on supporting and managing Project Jupyter’s community events. She works closely with the Jupyter Community Building Committee and organizers from the Project Jupyter user and contributor community on a broad portfolio of events. Gayle brings over 16 years of event experience managing diverse, cross-functional teams focused on client-facing programs and events on a global level. Previously she was the Curriculum Coordinator at the Osher of Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Texas Austin where she learned how to manage the delicate balance of volunteer committee management, being fluid within an ever-changing environment, and the value of concise and effective interpersonal communication.

“Great things come out of a collaborative culture and I look forward to getting to know my new community,” said Gayle.

Jessica joins in a full-time capacity as Events Coordinator after working with NumFOCUS for over a year as an intern supporting our events team. In her new role, she’s responsible for coordinating logistics and organization for all NumFOCUS and PyData events. Jessica graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Communication and Leadership and a minor in Communication and Social Change. She has previous non-profit experience as well as marketing, customer relations, and sales.

Jessica said, “I am very excited about taking on a new challenge as Event Coordinator with NumFOCUS. It’s exciting to work closely with people that are incredibly passionate about the open source community. Taking a role within this community will be rewarding for me and I can’t wait to get started. Although I have yet a lot to learn about open source, I now have the opportunity to learn from such a great community. Go NumFOCUS!”

NumFOCUS wishes these team members a great start to their new roles and a warm welcome to the community!
