You can support open science discovery in 2024
It’s that time of year again! The time to make a difference and support open science discovery by donating to help the individuals tackling some of the biggest problems affecting our lives.
Our annual year-end fundraiser has officially started, and we need you to join us by giving and sharing with your networks.
Your year-end contributions fund NumFOCUS’s Small Development Grants (SDG): a community collaboration addressing specific project needs while engaging dedicated volunteers.
What is a small development grant, though?
These grants are funded by NumFOCUS to help our sponsored and affiliate projects. They fund important work they might not be able to do like improving overall usability of their work, growing their communities, and having more frequent project releases.
Some projects that were helped because of this funding include:
- GeoPandas leveraging the S2 library for processing geographic spatial data in Python
- CVXPY modernizing their web documentation and making it interactive for users
- Blosc making python-blosc2 to leverage most of the new capabilities in C-Blosc2
- Julia advancing their outreach and community efforts
Why you should donate to support small development grants
In 2022, we funded 37 projects, totaling over $700,000 in funds. Those funds were made in part because of people like you.
Your donations help by funding the development of new tools, producing learning materials and equipment for critical tests, and, ultimately, lead to advancements that help people all over the world.
We rely on donations like yours to sustain these projects. So, please, donate and support open research, data and scientific computing.
