Part one of a series highlighting companies that are leading the way in establishing ongoing support programs.

Anaconda Dividend Program Report

In October of 2020, Anaconda, in partnership with NumFOCUS, launched an initiative to support open-source data science innovation called the Dividend Program.

Anaconda has committed to investing a portion of its commercial revenue back to the open-source community. Their hope is that this scalable model will become a significant source of sustainable funding for the open data science and ML ecosystem.

It’s our pleasure to share a comprehensive report on the first year of the Dividend Program. The report gives you a window into the factors driving this initiative and examples of how this funding supports NumFOCUS’s work by looking at the impact on 3 of our 45 Sponsored projects - TARDIS, Bokeh, and mlpack.

We look forward to the program evolving as we reflect on its inaugural year with the unveiling of this report.

Stay tuned for another post we have lined up on Quansight’s alternative funding model!
